Trustea Sustainable Tea Foundation is looking to appoint a Regenerative Agriculture Coordinator for Tea. The specified post is based at Dibrugarh in Assam.
Trustea is an Indian sustainability code working with smallholder tea growers, bought leaf factories, estates and packers to address some of the key challenges in the industry including working conditions, health and safety of tea workers, water pollution, food safety, soil erosion and contamination.
Agriculture Co-ordinator Eligibility
- Possess a graduate or postgraduate degree in Agriculture or Environmental Science.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience in tea plantation management, showcasing a commitment to implementing sustainable cultivation methods.
- Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in low-carbon farming techniques tailored to the tea industry.
- Additional advantageous qualifications include proficiency in conducting soil sampling and executing field trials.
- Candidates with experience working across diverse tea-growing regions in India will be favored.
Key Qualities of the Coordinator
- Effective Field Team Management: Empowerment and mentorship of field implementors to ensure adherence to the Field Management Schedule.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to understand stakeholders, communicate effectively with them, listen attentively to their perspectives, and focus on their interests.
- Quality Execution: Proficiency in monitoring the implementation plan and leveraging experience to ensure projects achieve desired outputs, outcomes, and impacts by maintaining close proximity to the field and project implementers.
- Project Management: Proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate issues and provide solutions.
- Multitasking and Deadline Management: Skillful prioritization, adeptness at managing pressure, monitoring progress on multiple tasks concurrently, and readiness to adjust priorities based on new information.
Language and Other Qualifications
- Fluency in Assamese and English is mandatory.
- Familiarity with tea-growing regions of India, including Assam, West Bengal, and South India, is considered advantageous.
Location: The Coordinator will be based in Dibrugarh. The project scope encompasses Assam (primarily), West Bengal, and South India.
Travel Requirements: The position requires a minimum of 50% travel.
Type of Employment: This is a long-term contract for 5 years on a full-time basis, with yearly renewals. Project continuity is anticipated for 10 years.
